4 C’s: Diamond Color

The color of a diamond has a significant impact on the price of a stone. Colors range from D through to Z.
Color differences are very subtle within each range. Colors are graded under controlled lighting conditions. It is difficult to see the difference between a D color and an F color. With the naked eye it is easy to see the difference between a D color and faint yellow. When mounted in jewelry it’s more difficult to see these differences. Colorless and near colorless stones are difficult to distinquish when stones are well cut.
As you go up the scale ie. Z to D, the stones become rarer therefore more valuable. Many will buy stones in the near colorless range to offset this cost.
Colorless and near colorless stones look stunning when set in Platinum as their icy white appearance compliments the metal. Near colorless and varying shades of yellow look exceptional in yellow gold.
DistinctiveDiamonds.com does not sell stones below the J color range. Special requests can be made as we are here to help you in any way.
Diamonds also come in other colors, however due to their rarity they are extremely valuable. Reds, pinks, blues and greens are found in nature as well as fancy yellows.
